Meet Your Barry County Recorder of Deeds candidates: Danielle Still, part 2

July 25, 2018
• What changes, if any, do you feel need to be made within the Recorder’s Office?
Since the Recorder’s Office has to run by Missouri State statutes, changes can only be made if the legislation makes those changes. While working in the license office, legislation procedures were changed often and I adapted to those changes well to meet the needs of Barry County citizens.
• How do you plan to promote a working relationship with other county offices and officials?
In my 15 years with the Department of Revenue, I communicated daily with the county offices of Assessor, Clerk and Collector and each of these offices and I had an excellent working relationship. I feel that one of my most prestigious attributes is my ability to work well with and for other people.
• Currently, Barry County only issues marriage licenses two days a week by appointment only, leading to citizens needing to acquire licenses from other counties. Do you plan to change that policy if elected?
I feel the need of constituents needs to be met on a daily basis instead of by appointment only. When serving the public, one should be willing at all times to accommodate their needs.
• How would you promote a healthy relationship with the citizens of Barry County needing the Recorder’s services?
Business in the license office consists of many different individual needs on a daily basis and I eagerly met those needs; therefore, I feel that I will be able to serve the Barry County citizens as their Recorder on the same equal grounds.
• If elected, how do you plan to learn the duties of the position and transition into your responsibilities?
I feel the duties as Barry County Recorder will be a rewarding job as was my position with the Department of Revenue. I started as a teenager employee and worked my way to the manager position and this was done by hard work, dedication and concentration. I am a fast learner and have always been willing to meet new challenges head on and seeing great accomplishments at the end. I know with my experience I can handle each challenge in a respectful and professional way.
• What is your plan for your first 90 days in office, if elected?
I will familiarize myself with the duties of the office and extend my knowledge each day to be able to better serve the great citizens of Barry County. I plan to fulfill, by law, the needs of the people that elected me to serve them as I promised in my campaign.
