Cassville came to life last Saturday night at the 1st annual Memories Car Cruise.
What started as an idea for Jason Blankenship to bring the Main Street cruise strip back to life and give back in the process was a success, with hundreds of cars, trucks, and motorcycles gathering in Cassville for the event.
After four hours, over $2,200 was raised for area school backpack programs.
"I can't believe it; this is incredible," Blankenship stated as he counted the proceeds at the end of the evening. "This is cool to have so many people come together and bring the strip back to life. Our community needed this."
Blankenship said he plans to hold the fundraising event annually on the second Saturday of June with a different area program receiving the donations and plans for next year's event to include additional vendors.
