In classrooms across Missouri, more than 3,500 students will enhance their knowledge of agriculture through mini-grants awarded by the Missouri Farm Bureau (MOFB) Foundation for Agriculture. With a commitment to improve agricultural understanding, this funding allows educators to purchase accurate educational materials and consumables to help connect students to the source of items everyone uses every day: farming and ranching. This year, at least 88 classrooms will benefit.
Two funding levels are available. Classroom grants offer $250 and grade/multi-grade level grants offer $500. The units of study, activitie and accurate agricultural resource materials provided through these awards allow students to enhance their awareness and understanding of agriculture. In turn, they are introduced to a wider range of career possibilities.
2020 marks the 23rd year for this competitive granting process and a record number of Missouri educators have applied. More students will better understand the connection between farming and the many products that begin with farmers.
Rachael Brown, of the Exeter FFA Chapter, was awarded a check for her mini-grant by County Farm Bureau president, Lana Couch, and Promotion and Education Chairman, Carl Younker.
The MOFB Foundation for Agriculture provides support for programs that enhance the image of agriculture, strengthen agricultural understanding and provide leadership development opportunities.
