Missouri Republicans Have Historic Night

Tuesdays election made state history for the GOP. Come January 2023, Republicans will hold supermajorities in the Missouri House, Senate, as well as occupying all state-wide elected offices with Scott Fitzpatrick as the new state auditor and presuming Governor Parson appointments of attorney general and state treasurer are Republicans. 111 of the 163 members of the House and 24 of the 34 members in the Senate will soon be filled by members of the red party.
Eric Schmitt took the U.S. Senator seat by 55.4% statewide (77.82% locally); Barry County local, Scott Fitzpatrick won 59.4% of the votes statewide (84% locally); and Eric Burlison swept the House District 7 position by a landslide, earning 70.9% of the votes statewide (80.67% locally).
County wide unofficial results show the follow candidates ran unopposed: State Representative District 158 Scott Cupps, Associate Circuit Judge Division 1 Johnnie Cox, Associate Circuit Judge Division 2 Robert Foulke, Presiding Commissioner Steve Blankenship, County Clerk Joyce Ennis, Circuit Clerk Craig Williams, Recorder of Deeds Danielle Still, Treasurer Gretta Tripp, Prosecuting Attorney Amy Boxx, and Collector of Revenue Skyler Bowman.
Of the five states nationwide, Missouri, Arkansas, North Dakota, South Dakota and Maryland, which had recreational marijuana amendments on the ballot, only two states passed. Missouri and Maryland will be added to the list of states approving recreational sale of marijuana in the coming year. Locally, Barry County residents responded with a heavy "No" to Amendment 3 by 68.41%, but statewide, voters were almost equally divided with the "Yes" taking a narrow win by 53.1%.
