MO 112 wreck injures three

Charlea Mills Three were sent to the hospital on Saturday afternoon after a two vehicle wreck on MO 112 near Roaring River State Park around 12:10 p.m. The accident occurred when a 1997 Ford Econoline van driven by Carl L. Handshy, 87, of Columbus, Kan., failed to negotiate a curve as he was driving south and slid across the center line. The van then struck a 2004 Dodge 2500 pickup driven by Logan K. Tyler, 25, of Ouray, Col., in the side, knocking both vehicles and a trailer off of the road. Ouray received moderate injuries and was taken to Cox South Hospital in Springfield. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Carl Handshy and his wife, Wilma, 87, Columbus, Kan., were transported to Freeman Hospital in Joplin. Both were wearing their seatbelts. Carl received moderate injuries and Wilma’s injuries were minor. |
