Riley Yerge has been with the Horner Ridgerunners Chapter, in Cassville, off and on for four years. She is the current Secretary of her chapter. She joined 4-H because she wanted to participate in projects as well as show animals, which is her favorite part of being a 4-H member.
This year, which was her first year to show her dairy cow, she won Grand Champion and a Showmanship award at the Purdy Fair and Reserve Grand Champion and a Showmanship award at the Barry County Fair. Being a part of 4-H allowed her to attend a dairy cow camp in May of 2022 in Friestatt, which was held by the MU Lawrence County Extension office. One of her proudest achievements for community service was donating food to the Cassville Pantry with her chapter. |
Emily Boley has been with the Sho-Me Piggets 4-H Chapter, in Shell Knob, for three years. She is the current President of her chapter. She joined 4-H initially as an extracurricular class in her home-school studies, but has grown to love the skills she learns, making new friends and being part of a team.
She received a blue ribbon this year at Ozark Empire Fair, among several other ribbons for her project on crocheting. To date she has crocheted a sweater, blanket and coaster. One of her proudest achievements for community service was her chapter raising $300 for Haven of the Ozarks, in 2021, at Shakin' In The Shell. |
This year’s “Opportunity4All” campaign rallies support for Cooperative Extension’s 4-H program. Missouri 4-H joins millions of youths, parents, volunteers and alumni across the nation in celebrating the many positive youth development opportunities that National 4-H offers.
With so many children struggling to reach their full potential, 4-H believes that young people, in partnership with adults, play a key role in creating a more promising and equitable future for youth, families, and communities across the country. 4-H believes every child should have an equal opportunity to succeed and the skills they need to make a difference in the world.
In Missouri, more than 47,000 youths and 5,000 volunteers are involved in 4-H. Besides the more traditional community clubs, youths can also participate in after-school or in-school clubs, Special Interest (SPIN) clubs or 4-H programs such as Soccer for Success, Youth Futures or Juntos.
