The National DEA Prescription Take Back Day has been set for October 29, 2022. For more than a decade, Take Back Day has helped Americans dispose of unneeded medications that can often become a gateway to addiction.
Take Back Day is your chance to rid your medicine cabinet of unneeded and unwanted medications and help prevent future medication misuse and opioid addiction. It also provides a proper disposal method medications that help protect the environment and keeps the medication from being flushed into the water system. Drop off locations are safe and anonymous.
There has been a change in types of medications collected this year. Only pharmaceutical controlled substances may be dropped off. No over the counter drugs, liquids, inhalers, illegal drugs or sharp objects (i.e. syringes/needles) will be accepted. Medications will not be accepted from medical clinics, pharmacies or veterinary clinics.
There are two drop off locations in the Barry/ Lawrence County area. The Monett Police Department will accept drop offs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1901 E. Cleveland Street, in Monett.
The Cassville Police Department will accept drop offs between 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Cassville Wal-Mart, located at 1401 Old Exeter Road.
