Neosho man arrested for assaulting ex-wife in Wheaton

A Nesho man was arrested on Friday after an altercation with his ex-wife in Wheaton. Shawn Lucas Vickrey, 37, was charged with domestic assault in the second degree, felonious restraint and property damage in the second degree.
According to the affidavit of probable cause by Wheaton Police Officer Taylor Lombard, he was dispatched to an apartment on Hill Street. After speaking with the victim, Lombard discerned that Vickrey repeatedly punched and kicked the victim in the head and chest as well as struck her in the head with a pair of fencing pliers.
Vickrey allegedly would not let the victim leave her apartment and covered her mouth with his hand so that she could not get help. Eventually, she escaped to a neighboring apartment and Vickrey fled into a field.
During the altercation, two tables were broken, valued at around $260 each.
Vickrey is being held in the Barry County Jail in lieu of a $30,000 cash-only bond.
