Missouri's catch-and-keep trout fishing season officially opens at 6:30 a.m. next Wednesday, March 1. The 2023 catch-and-keep season at Missouri State Park trout parks runs through October 31.
Missouri residents aged 16-64 and nonresidents 16 and older are required to purchase a Missouri fishing permit. In addition to a fishing permit, trout anglers must also buy a daily trout tag, which can be purchased at the Roaring River State Park Store.
A daily trout tag during the 2023 season costs $4 for adults and $3 for people 15 and under. Daily fishing permits are $8. The daily limit is four trout. The park store will open at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, February 28, and remain open until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1.
The Cassville Chamber of Commerce and volunteers will hand out mugs and free coffee at the Les Jacobs Ford tent across from the CCC Lodge beginning at 5:30 a.m. This year's mug theme is "Keepin' It Reel."
The starting gun this year will be fired by Scott Hettinger and Charlie 22 Outdoors at 6:30 a.m. to open the 2023 season officially.
Charlie 22 Outdoors is a non-profit based out of Webb City with a mission to "Serve those who have served" by providing outdoor activities throughout the year for veterans and families, free of charge, while bringing awareness to veteran suicide.
