Pedestrian hit on Hwy. 76 near Wheaton

A pedestrian was hit and injured on Highway 76 on Sunday, October 9. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, the pedestrian was struck while walking in the roadway, and the driver fled the scene.
Dawn M. French, 47, of Eagle Rock, was walking in the roadway of Highway 76 about two miles south of Wheaton at 8:10 p.m. The vehicle was reportedly a white Chevrolet pickup headed eastbound that fled the scene after hitting French.
French was taken to Mercy Hospital in Cassville with moderate injuries.
