Pierson named Crowder College president

Dr. Katricia Pierson
The Board of Trustees of Crowder College has asked Dr. Katricia Pierson to assume the position of President of Crowder College.
She is expected to transition into the office beginning January 13, 2022. Current president, Dr. Coltharp, will continue in an advisory role to Dr. Pierson until his retirement effective June 30, 2022.
“We welcome Dr. Pierson’s leadership as we enter the next chapter of Crowder College’s history,” said Board of Trustees President, Andy Wood.
Katricia Pierson, Ph.D., is President of East Central University in Ada, OK. She previously served as Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs of East Central University in Ada, OK. Dr. Pierson earned a Doctor of Philosophy in English, and a Master of Arts in English from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas; and a Bachelor of Arts in English and Journalism Secondary Education from the University of Wyoming in Laramie, Wyoming.
“The Crowder College Search Committee chose four fabulous candidates as finalists to be the next president of Crowder College,” Wood said. “All four were highly qualified and dedicated individuals.
“After meeting the candidates, reviewing the extensive feedback from Crowder stakeholders, and much discussion among board members, Dr. Katricia Pierson quickly rose to the top,” Wood continued. “Dr. Pierson has the experience, proven leadership skills, compassion and commitment to servant-leadership which will make her a great President of Crowder College for the next several years.
Wood extends his appreciation to the entire college community for its participation at the recent presidential forums.
“Everyone’s input was reviewed and greatly valued by the Board,” Wood said. “The collaborative and concerted work truly enriched the search process.”
Wood also express es appreciation to the Presidential Search Committee for their time, dedication, and thoughtful work on behalf of Crowder College.
