Purdy City Council, Police Reports
October 13, 2021

Mayor Brian Bowers signed an agreement to move Purdy into the second phase of repairing the city’s sewer lines. Purdy has now entered year-two of a ten-year plan to repair and replace the city’s sewer and water systems. Maintenance is planned to first be applied to areas in danger of leaking, followed by the city’s less dilapidated pipes, eventually covering the entire city limits.
With great effort, Purdy’s water efficiency has risen to 73 percent. According to Purdy Public Works Supervisor Lonnie Lowery, this speaks to incredible progress following the nearly undetectable million-gallon-a-month water leak that had plagued Purdy in recent months. Due to this leak, in August and September, the water efficiency percentage had plummeted as low as approximately 62 percent. However, Lowery expects that, by November, to see a continuing trend of increased efficiency. “The goal is around 80 percent efficiency,” said Lowery.
In other matters, Scott Redshaw resigned from the office of East Ward Alderperson following a move from Purdy.
September Purdy Police Report:
• September 7: An officer responded to Autumn Woods Apartments for a theft-of-property complaint. The complainant reported that someone had entered into her unlocked vehicle in the parking lot and had stolen several medical style face masks from the vehicle. The case remains open.
• September 8: An officer investigated the theft of a credit card from the Cedar Towers Apartments. The stolen credit card had been used at a convenience store in Verona. A male suspect was identified through the store’s surveillance video, however the victim denied to pursue charges. The case is closed.
• September 9: An officer responded to information that several persons were squatting on the property at 404 Washington Street and were using controlled substances. Three persons were contacted at the residence and all three were familiar to Law Enforcement. However, it was determined that they did have permission to be on the property. One person, Bonnie C. Cape (26), of Cassville, was arrested on a misdemeanor warrant out of Barry County and was transported to the Barry County Jail.
• September 24: An officer went to the Child Advocacy Center in Monett for a rape investigation. According to Officer Russ Nichols, there is reason to believe the suspect has left the area; however a warrant is still being pursued. The investigation is ongoing.
