Purdy Eagles earn Crowder writing, art honors

Several Purdy High School literary and visual artists were honored at the annual Crowder Quill Awards Ceremony, held on Thursday, May 10, at Crowder College. Eight students were published in the 2018 edition of the Crowder Quill. Purdy High School also received second place in the Quill’s Traveling Trophy Recognition program. Published artists who attended the ceremony are pictured from left to right: publications teacher Ashley Brown, Savannah Burch, Joby Young, Anah Dover, Megan Hibbard, Anna Snuffer and communication arts instructor Kayla Branstetter. Published in the Quill, but not pictured, are Bayleigh Schad, Layne Skiles and Jose Perez. Begun in 1980, the Quill is published each spring; the contest deadline is Feb. 1 each year, and divisions are high school, Crowder, and the community. The categories are fiction, nonfiction, poetry, 2D art, 3D art, digital art, color photography, and black and white photography.
