February 3, 2021
Lee Stubblefield

The Purdy Eagles continued their run atop Barry County schools,  stretching their winning streak to five games with a 55-44 win over Seneca on Friday night. The Eagles improved to 13-4 with the victory.
A three-game losing streak left the Cassville Wildcats with a 4-14 record heading into a week of conference play. The McDonald County Mustangs blew out the Wildcats, 65-28, last Tuesday to start the skid.
Cassville will host a strong Nevada team on Friday night.
The Wheaton Bulldogs improved to 11-9, winning eight of their last nine contests. The Bulldogs claimed a 58-54 win at College Heights on Friday night.
After posting back-to-back wins over Hermitage and Sheldon, the Exeter Tigers slipped to 3-15 with a 87-72 loss to Golden City.
Southwest dropped an 81-53 game to Billings last week before being placed in quarantine for this entire week.
Varsity girls recap
The Cassville Lady Wildcats have posted winning streaks of three and then six games this season. But the Ladycats have dropped four of their last five, including a 50-41 loss at Pittsburg. Cassville will host Nevada on Friday night.
The Wheaton Lady Bulldogs dropped five of their last six games to go 8-11. That one win was a 50-44 OT thriller over Pierce City.
The Purdy Lady Eagles slipped to 4-7 with a tough 68-19 loss to Blue Eye. The Lady Eagles are slated to play in the Seneca Tournament this week.
The Exeter Lady Tigers fell to McAuley on Friday night, 65-24. Now 1-14, the Lady Tigers travel to Hurley next Monday.
The Southwest Lady Trojans dipped to 4-12 with a 37-36 loss to Galena. Growing quarantine numbers leave the Lady Trojans with only six players heading into this week’s action.
