Purdy man arrested for molestation charges spanning 5 years

A Purdy man was arrested last week on child molestation charges through the Monett Police Department. According to affidavits of probable cause, George Samuel Waltrip, 56, of Purdy, molested a friend’s granddaughter over the course of five years.
The child was interviewed at the Children’s Center and said that Waltrip threatened to kill her if she told anyone. According to victim’s statement, the sexual assault occurred at least nine times and included multiple sexually deviant acts.
Waltrip was interviewed by officer Jay Jastal with the Monett Police Department while accompanied by his attorney but denied all of the allegations made by the victim.
Barry County Prosecuting Attorney Amy Boxx charged Waltrip with child molestation in the first degree and two counts of statutory sodomy. Judge Robert Foulke issued a $30,000 cash-only bond on May 5, and Waltrip was arrested on May 13. He is currently being held in lieu of the bond in the Barry County Jail.
