Purdy High School Graduate Jake Brown signed a letter of intent to continue his education at Baptist Bible College in Fall 2021 and represent the Patriots on the baseball team, in a special ceremony held at Purdy Schools, on Thursday, June 24. A host of family, friends, teammates and fans attended the event.
Jake Brown and his Purdy High School baseball teammates brought home the Ozark 7 Conference Championship in 2018, the SWCL Conference Championship in 2019 and the SWCL Tournament Championship in 2021. The team won District Championships in 2018 and 2019. Brown’s individual accolades include Rookie of the Year during his 2018 freshman season, 1st Team All-Conference and All-District Outfielder in 2019, 2nd Team All-Conference Outfielder in 2020 and First Team All-Conference and All-District Outfielder and Second Team All-State Outfielder in 2021. Jake Brown was named to the All-State Academic Team all four years of his high school career, which required starting in 70% of games, being in the top 25% of his class and maintaining a minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale. Brown’s high school baseball career culminated on Saturday, June 12, as he represented the Eagles in the Missouri High School Baseball Coaches Association (MHSBCA) Senior All-Star Classic.
Of his time as a Purdy Eagle and his future as a Patriot Brown noted, "In my short four years at Purdy I really found a new home. I involved myself with everything that the school had to offer, and that made it the best four years I have gotten to experience. Purdy really had a huge influence on my character and my work ethic. I met some of the best people, and I wouldn't change anything that happened in those four years. I feel that my future at BBC has a bright path. When I visited there I felt so welcomed. It was a great atmosphere, and I knew it was where God wanted me. I can't wait to bring what I have to offer to the campus."
