Sales tax dips for the second month

For the second month in a row, the sales tax revenue for both Barry County and the City of Cassville dropped below last year’s numbers. However, even with two months of less revenue, both are in the green for the year comparatively.
For sales tax collected in October and received by the county in November, the month is down 4.07 percent when compared to 2014. The resulting loss of revenue was $6,725.23 for Barry County’s general 1/2-cent tax. For the 1/8-cent tax, the loss meant $420.99 less than last year’s month, but the total was down only 1.05 percent when compared to last year.
The City of Cassville’s revenue was down 6.7 percent for the month when compared to last year. For the general one-cent sales tax, the city collected $60,422.98 for the month. That total was $4,315.97 than last year.
Cassville’s 3/8-cent transportation sales tax came in at $22,663.31, the least in any given month this year. To date, the city has collected $298,861.85 for the 2015 year for the transportation sales tax.
So far, for the year, Barry County has collected $66,625.72 more than last year to date, bringing the total collected to $1,832,191.96 for the 1/2-cent general revenue tax. The county is up 3.77 percent for the year over last year’s revenue.
Cassville is still up 7.6 percent for the year. To date, the city has collected $839,800.01 in revenue for the one-cent general sales tax. Thus far, Cassville is up $58,969.56 over last year’s general revenue received.
