Sater to be recognized by Shell Knob seniors
January 22, 2020
State Senator David Sater will be honored at a special event in Shell Knob next week. There will be a short program followed by lunch at the Central Crossing Senior Center in Shell Knob on Friday, January 31, at 11 am, during which Senator David Sater will be recognized for his support of seniors.
During the last session of the Missouri State Legislature, Sater was instrumental in the passage of what has been referred to as the Growth and Development Bill. This bill has been in the works for several years, but because he and some others from other parts of the state took an active leadership role, it was passed.
The original seed of this idea came from Central Crossing Senior Center's Mr. Glenn Phillips, formerly of Shell Knob.
The bill provides much needed funding of the state's Area Agencies on Aging, of which SeniorAge Area Agency on Aging in Springfield, is one of 10 in the State of Missouri. The Area Agencies provide support for local Senior Centers such as those in Shell Knob, Cassville, Monett, Aurora, Kimberling City and others throughout Missouri which in turn offer many services for local seniors.
