The filing period for school board elections closed on January 15. All filed candidates will be on the ballot for the municipal election April 2.
For Exeter Public Schools, incumbents Eric O’Neill and Bryce Stephens will be running against newcomer Joseph Still for two seats on the school board. The winners of this election will serve a three-year term.
In the Southwest School District there will be a three-way race for two open seats on the school board. Incumbent Brian Robbins will take on newcomers Bobby Brooks and Diana Roller. Current school board member Bobby Stephens has not filed for re-election. The winners of these seats will serve a three-year term.
In Cassville, incumbents Chad Yarnall and Jeremy Marple are the only candidates to file for their respective seats. Due to a law regarding a ballot initiative that the school board will be putting up for a vote this year, both will be on the ballot but will be running unopposed. Yarnall and Marple will both serve another three-year term.
Similarly, Shell Knob only has two candidates filing for two open seats. Incumbents Rusty Rickard and Bob Graffino will retain their seats for two three-year terms. This eliminates the need for a formal election.
In Wheaton, the only two candidates to file for election are incumbent Chris Park and newcomer Jeff Pettengill, once again eliminating the need for a school board election. Current school board member Dan Goostree has opted not to seek re-election. Park and Pettengill will serve a three-year term.
Finally, Purdy has also eliminated the need for an election as incumbent Todd Schallert and newcomer Mike Bennett are the only two candidates to file for Purdy’s two open seats. Current school board member Ed Mareth has elected not to run. Schallert and Bennett will serve a three-year term.
School board members will be on the ballot during the municipal election on April 2.
