Shell Knob’s Postmaster Carol Mosley retired on April 30. Carol has been the Postmaster at the Shell Knob Post Office since March of 2018.
Carol started with the U.S. Postal Service at the Processing and Distribution Center in Kansas City in 1990. Her first job with the Service was as a letter sorting machine clerk, a job that required reading and inputting a letter address or zip code at a rate of one per second. Carol was successful at her job and soon advanced into other responsibilities including training new employees in machine operation and safety.
In 2007, Mosley was promoted to an administrative position at the Postal Service District Office in Kansas City. She performed many functions in the areas of marketing, safety and injury compensation management, eventually becoming Administrative Assistant to the District Manager. Opportunities at the District Office led Carol to a position with the Postal Inspection Service, the law enforcement arm of the U.S.P.S.
In 2017, Carol and her husband, Robert, made the decision to move to the family lake house in Ridgedale. Robert Mosley also works for the Postal Service and his job allows him to work remotely. Carol applied for a temporary position as “officer in charge” at the Hollister Post Office and then was offered the Postmaster responsibility in Shell Knob.
Carol and Robert plan to remain in the area and enjoy the lake life. They will be visiting their three children who still reside in Kansas City and Carol’s mother and sister in Iowa. Carol says, “Now that I have more time, I told Robert I would like another puppy and hopefully some grandchildren.” Carol will be pursuing her love of reading and gardening and would like to volunteer in a school setting.
Carol Mosley is proud of her long career with the Postal Service. She says, “I wish I would have gotten into the delivery service earlier. I have really enjoyed this aspect of the work.” She adds, “I have been blessed to be the Postmaster here in Shell Knob. Everyone has been friendly and gracious and I have had a great group of employees to work with. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here.”
