Barry County Sheriff Danny Boyd met with homeowners of Emerald Beach Village, alongside it’s board of directors, last week to announce the opening of the new Barry County Sheriff’s Office Zone One Sub-Station, which is located inside the Village Hall.
“We are happy to have been able to make this happen,” said Shelley Neel, with Emerald Beach Village. “We have installed key-less entry to allow deputies to have access to the facility around the clock, allowing them to have a bigger presence in the area.”
Not only will the newly established sub-station increase law enforcement presence in the White River Township area, it will cut the response time to calls in the area by half according to Sheriff Boyd.
“The opening of the sub-station will benefit the lake community tremendously,” said Sheriff Boyd. “Deputies will be able to remain in the area and use the space for taking reports.”
Sheriff Boyd also stated that the Sheriff’s office will place a drop box at the location, which will be checked frequently, where community members can report suspicious activity.
Though the sub-station will not be staffed by the Sheriff’s office full-time, Sheriff Boyd said the department currently has four recruits who will be starting the academy in August with graduation in mid-December. After graduation, he plans to have deputies stationed at the Village more regularly.
Missouri State Highway Patrol Troopers will also have access to the sub-station.
Emerald Beach Village Hall is located at 23956 Cardinal Drive in Golden.
