Shots fired during attempted robbery of Monett restaurant

An attempted robbery of a Monett restaurant ended in shots fired and the suspect’s escape last Thursday.
According to a press release by Monett Police Department, the department received a 911 call at 9:06 p.m. on Thursday, February 28, regarding shots fired during an attempted robbery at Peking Restaurant at 535 East Cleveland in Monett.
The owner reported leaving the restaurant at the same time as an employee. While the two attempted to leave in separate vehicles, the owner was approached by a tall, thin white male wearing a black stocking cap, gloves and black coat. The man was clean-shaven according to the victims in the case.
The suspect allegedly approached the owner’s vehicle and demanded money.
As the owner and the employee tried to leave, the suspect allegedly fired shots at the vehicles, hitting one vehicle twice and the other vehicle once. Officers located several shell casings at the scene.
No one was injured during the attempted robbery, and the suspect still remains at large at this time.
As of time of press, the Monett Police Department have no suspects and are asking for tips in helping to solve the case.
