Southwest ag teacher receives 2019 On The Ball Award

Lena Alsup, first year agriculture instructor at Southwest School, was recognized with the “On the Ball” award for her accomplishments during the Missouri Vocational Agriculture Teachers Association (MVATA) Conference in Springfield, this summer. This recognition was given to Missouri’s top new agriculture education teacher based upon an application, a written response to specific questions and an oral interview. The recipient must be a first year agriculture teacher who has signed their second year contract to continue teaching agriculture education.
Alsup was recognized at the MVATA banquet by Northcutt Financial Services who presented a trophy and a cash award.
MVATA is a professional agriculture education teacher association that has 510 members serving 337 schools.
