Third-seed Southwest boys basketball made school history last week (Feb. 24), claiming the school's first class 3 district 12 championship win in 57 years to number-one seed Stockton.
After a slow first quarter and a tie 36-36 at the half, heading into the fourth quarter, the Trojan boys ramped up and outscored the Tigers 20-6, taking the district title with a 56-42 win advancing the team to Class 3 State Sectionals in Carthage against Sparta on Monday (Feb. 27).
Though the team did not fair well at sectionals to Sparta, with a loss of 74-52, they had a strong season, finishing 21-8, which is the most wins the program has seen since the 2011-2012 season.
