Southwest middle, high school bands compete at NEO

The Southwest bands competed at NEO, in Miami, Okla., on April 3 with band members from grade levels sixth through 12th competing. Four solo ratings were given with 1 (high) to 5 (low). The results were: sixth grade received a 1+ rating; seventh and eighth grade received a 1+ rating; and high school band/jazz received a 1+ rating with outstanding jazz soloists: Mariah Munday, Maddie Ashby, Nathan Wallace and Evan Still. Contest classic soloists were: Deven Maleki, 1+ rating for drum solo; Maddie Ashby, 1 rating for baritone sax solo; Nathan Wallace, 1 rating for trumpet solo; and Evan Still, 2 rating.
