Tax Levys, Road District Ballot Contests

A question regarding Barry County’s tax levy retention will appear on the ballot in the April 6 Municipal Election.
In addition tax levy questions will face voters in the Exeter Special Road District, the Capps Creek Special Road District, and the Wheaton Fire District.
In Emerald Beach Village, Matthew McBryde has filed for one of the three open Board of Trustees positions; the remaining two positions are open to write-in candidates.
Emerald Beach Village’s ballot will also feature a maintenance fee question as well as one pertaining to an election ordinance.
In the Northern Stone/Northeast Barry Fire Protection District, Robert Savage filed for one of the two open positions; the other is open to a write-in candidate.
Voters in the Mineral Special Road District will face a contest on the ballot between incumbent Ron Stricklin and Quintin Bradley.
In the Butterfield and Viola Special Road Districts, no candidates filed for open positions, but names may be written in on the ballots.
The Barry County Health Department will have three open positions on its Board of Trustees, with four candidates running for those positions.
Incumbent James Brasel will face David Sater, Roger Schnackenberg and Paul Strahl.
Strahl has served on the board in the past.
