Teen seriously injured in Washburn ATV crash

A 15-year-old girl from Washburn was left in critical condition after a four-wheeler wreck on Thursday, October 17. According to the crash report by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the girl lost control on a gravel road on Miles Mountain Road, about six and a half miles west of Washburn.
The report states the juvenile* from Washburn was driving a 2007 Honda TRX ATV southbound on a gravel roadway when she lost control. The ATV went off the roadway on the left side and struck a fence. The teen was ejected from the vehicle.
The juvenile was flown by air ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Springfield for serious injuries suffered the crash. The Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to the crash around 4 p.m.
The ATV sustained minor damage and was released to a relative at the scene.
The teenager was not wearing a safety device at the time of the crash.
