Sheriff’s Posse Takes First in Rogers Event The Barry County Sheriff’s Posse performed at Rogers, Arkansas, in the drill-team competition in the cancer benefit horse show sponsored by the Rogers Saddle Club Sunday, taking first place. Ed Ray served as acting drill captain. Six drill teams were entered in the competition. Members of the first place winning drill team who took part in the Rogers competition were: Larry Edens, Bruce Irwin, Paschell Patterson, Don Stumpff, Bobby Sorensen, Ronnie Miller, Wayne Smithson, Ed Ray, Jerry Harper, Joe Miller, Carol Hutchens, Tommy Farwell, Harvey Lucas, Henry Burns, Junior Mattingly, Joe Deveno, Leon Prier and Jim Stacy.
Ground Breaking Ceremonies Held for Cassville First Christian Church
Ground-breaking ceremonies were held Sunday afternoon for the new Cassville First Christin Church facility. Reverend Bert Ward, church pastor; Herschel Stehlik, chairman of the elders; Wayne Tomblin, member of the building committee; and Earl Hutchens, chairman of the board, were present for the event. The new First Christian Church building is to be located at the 11-acre site on First Street (Old Exeter Road) and Hwy. 37 at the west edge of Cassvlle, according to their pastor, Reverend Bert Ward.
Driver Education Classes Continue at Cassville High Driver training instructor, J. C. Duncan, will lead a class of 60 students in the process of a two-week intensive classroom study which precedes individualized instruction in actual driving.
