Three cars leave roadway in Highway 37 mishap

At 6:22 a.m. Monday, August 3, Jonathon J. Harper, 21, of Garfield, Arkansas, crashed his southbound 2007 Lincoln Town Car into the rear of a southbound 2007 Toyota Camry driven by Christopher L. Leroy, 49, of Monett. According to the highway patrol report, Harper fell asleep behind the wheel.The accident occurred one mile north of Butterfield on Highway 37.
Harper's vehicle skidded off the right side of the road; Leroy's skidded off the left side. Leroy was transported by ambulance to Cox Monett with minor injuries. Harper was uninjured. Both drivers were insured and wearing safety devices.
In an attempt to avoid the accident, a following, southbound 2006 Pontiac Vibe driven by Samual M. Brown, 42, of Fairview, drove off the left side of the roadway and overturned. It is unknown whether he was insured or wearing a safety device.
Brown was transported to Mercy Cassville by ambulance.
The accident was investigated by Trooper L. Wilson, of Missouri Highway Patrol, Troop D.
