Three tornados confirmed in Barry County last week

A third tornado was confirmed to have hit Barry County last week. The two previously confirmed tornados on Tuesday, April 30, hit in Pleasant Ridge, outside of Purdy, and Wheaton. The third hit in Cassville. Initially suspected to be just straight line winds, the EF-0 tornado in Cassville was responsible for the destruction of a few trees, knocking down limbs and home damage to at least one residence in mid-Cassville near the square.
Of the three tornados confirmed, Wheaton's was the most severe. Rated at an EF-1, the Wheaton tornado hit around 3:42 p.m. and had maximum estimated wind speeds of 110 miles per hour. The path was 880 yards wide at the maximum and travelled 12 miles, according to the National Weather Service.
While there were no reported injuries from the tornado, it was reported to have destroyed several buildings and uprooted several trees. It was on the ground approximately 18 minutes.
The Pleasant Ridge tornado was rated at EF-0 and struck around 4:25 p.m. The National Weather Service estimated the peak wind speed at 85 miles per hour and travelled five miles. The maximum path was 200 yards wide. The Weather Service released that several outbuildings were destroyed as well as several trees were uprooted while it was on the ground for about 10 minutes.
The newly released data on the tornado in Cassville showed it hit at 6:48 p.m. and travelled intermittently for 1.89 miles. The maximum path width of the tornado was 75 yards, and large trees were downed or damaged. One large tree fell and damaged a house, as well.
