Two arrested for stolen property, bomb

Charlea Mills Two people were arrested after the Barry County Sheriff’s Department executed a search warrant at a property on Longview outside of Seligman. Cody Foster Lowe, 25, of Seligman, and Terri Lynn Jones, 43, of Seligman, were each charged related to thefts and an IED found in a barn. According to a press release by the sheriff’s department, detectives were searching for both stolen property form multiple Seligman burglaries and illegal drugs. Once at the property they found multiple boxes of stolen military items that belonged to Spc. Christopher Stark, who was killed in action in Afghanistan. According to the press release, the items had been stolen from a storage unit in Monett in the last two months. Spc. Stark’s dog tags were also found hanging in the home from a nail on the wall. According to an affidavit or probable cause by Detective Doug Henry with the Barry County’s Sheriff’s Office, he conducted an interview on November 11 at the Benton County, Ark., Jail regarding a theft from a residence near Seligman. The man, Duel Walker, had said that Jones had shown him the residence where items were stolen from. Once at Jones’ property, items were found from recent burglaries, including power tools, a car and home decor. Det. Henry also found an IED in the barn on the property that was a pipe filled with gun powder, bullets and other pieces of metal. The bomb was made safe by the Bentonville Bomb Squad. Lowe is also charged with a car theft on in early November. The owner of a 1998 Honda Accord reported that it had been stolen from her home in the Seligman area. When detectives executed the search warrant, they found the vehicle parked in the driveway with Lowe’s driver’s license in the console. When questioned, Lowe claimed that he had purchased the car from someone else. Lowe is charged with tampering with a motor vehicle in the first degree. He has not been charged in connection with the burglaries as of time of press. Jones is charged with receiving stolen property and unlawful possession of an illegal weapon. Jones is being held in lieu of a $30,000 cash-only bond and Lowe is being held in lieu of a $15,000 cash-only bond. |
