Two motorcycles crash near Shell Knob

Two motorcycles crashed about four miles north of Shell Knob on Missouri 39 on Friday evening. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, one driver lost control of his motorcycle and the other driver struck the motorcycle after it crashed.
The report stated Jelani I. Miller, 19, of Miller, was driving a 2016 Yamaha R3 northbound on Missouri 39 when he lost control around 6:15 p.m. on Friday, March 9. Derek L. Garoutte, 18, of Verona, then crashed into the Yamaha with the 2015 Kawasaki RX that he was driving.
Miller was taken by ambulance to Cox South Hospital in Springfield for moderate injuries. Garoutte had no reported injuries at the time of the crash.
Both drivers were wearing helmets at the time of the crash. Both bikes sustained minor damage and were removed from the scene by family.
