Washburn murders suspect extradited back to Barry County, held without bond

Christopher Paschall, 38, of Springdale, Ark., was extradited back to Barry County last week to faces murder charges of a Washburn woman and her grandfather last January. Paschall had been held in the Washington County, Ark., since his arrest shortly after the shootings to face charges there.
Paschall is charged in the shooting death of his ex-girlfriend, Casey Brace, an her grandfather, Herbert Townsend, before kidnapping the two-year-old daughter he fathered with Brace. The girl was found safe in Arkansas at Paschall’s parents’ home the same day of the shooting.
Paschall signed a waiver of extradition after posting bond in Washington County, Ark., for charges of possession of a firearm by certain persons, possession of drug paraphernalia, theft by receiving and violating terms of a prior bond.
Once Paschall came to Barry County, a bond hearing was held. The state was represented by Assistant Attorney General Darrell Lee Moore, who stepped in to assist Prosecutor Amy Boxx. Paschall entered a plea of not guilty to the charges he faces in Barry County. Judge Robert Foulke upheld the State’s motion to revoke Paschall’s bond, ensuring that Paschall will sit in the Barry County Jail until the case is tried.
Paschall faces two counts of murder, three counts of armed criminal action and one count of parental kidnapping.
According to affidavits of probable cause, the Barry County Sheriff’s Department responded to a 911 call from Townsend’s home in Washburn on January 5, 2015. When officers arrived, Brace had been shot to death in the home, and Townsend was still alive. Townsend later died but was able to tell officers that “Chris Paschall” had been the perpetrator.
Brace and Paschall had been romantically involved and had one child together. Brace had other children, as well. She had taken out protection orders against Paschall in 2014 for abuse and stalking.
Pachall was arrested in his parents’ home in Springdale, Ark., later that evening.
