The 63rd annual Wheaton BBQ will happen this Saturday at 11 a.m., and will feature food, music, rides, and more.
This year’s BBQ will begin with the Wheaton Street Machines Show and Shine Car Event, the Spud McCracken Memorial Horseshoe Tournament, and shortly after, at 11:30 a.m., food will be served. Attendants can avail themselves of the event’s signature barbecue, baked beans, baked potato, bread, and a beverage, for the price tag of $6 for adults and $3 for children. Ice cream and homemade pie will also be available.
Additionally at the BBQ, you’ll find arts and crafts vendors, a 40-plus-item silent auction, the Wheaton FFA Petting Zoo, Monster Truck Rides (offered by Wheels of Freedom, provided by Jason and Melissa Bonnow) and free children’s carnival rides from 1 - 8 p.m. At 1 p.m., the Sugar Mountain Band will take the stage, followed by Chigger Creek Band at 2:15 p.m., and The 211 Band at 4 p.m. Lucas Gates will then close the show at 6 p.m.
At 8 p.m., the duck race will take place, offering $1,000 in total prizes. Two Dog Karaoke will finish the musical evening at 8:30 p.m.
The annual BBQ is hosted by the Wheaton Volunteer Fire Department, with proceeds directly funding the maintenance of fire department equipment.
