Wildcats second in Big 8 XC

                 The Cassville Wildcats, led by a 10th place finish by Devon Brookes, finished second behind  East Newton at the Big 8 Conference Cross Country Meet held Tuesday, October 9, in Springfield. The powerful Patriots packed five runners in the top 15 for a winning score of 47. Cassville followed with 113.
                 This meet marked the first conference championship since the Big 8 expanded to 14 teams. Thirteen schools fielded complete squads. Only Seneca failed to appear in the team scoring.
                 Kolin Overstreet, of Lamar, outdueled Rogersville’s Jay Strausbaugh for the individual title, 16:33 to 16:44.
                 Brookes led the Cassville team with his 10th place showing in 17:58. Pace Evans placed 18th in 18:30; Steven Collinwood was 22nd in 18:52; Cole Jackson took 30th in 19:17; and Kel Wilson and Quinn Cook pulled the brother-in-law trick, finishing side by side in 19:34 for 34th and 35th, respectively.
                 In the pink division, only seven complete teams hit the starting line. Hollister won the team title with 38 points.
                 Nevada’s Calli Beshore found the finish line first with a time of 20:26.
                 Cassville’s Jordyn Stafford claimed the 5th place medal with her 20:58 run.
MS results
                 Cassville’s Annie Moore placed second in 11:39 and her Lady Wildcats won the team title scoring 36.
                 Lamar’s Kiersten Potter won the gold medal with her 11:02 effort..
                 Anderson won the middle school boys division scoring 83. Kaden Padgett of Nevada won the individual gold medal running 10:22.
                 Jacob Martinez placed 5th in 10:40 and paced Cassville to a 5th place team finish.
