Accident near Jenkins claims life of Kansas woman

Shirley L. Bell, 59, of Anthony, Kansas, died as the result of a 7:15 p.m. crash October 13, on Highway 39 in Jenkins, Missouri.
The accident occurred as the southbound 2004 Ford Taurus driven by Bell crossed the center line and struck a northbound 2006 Lincoln Zephyr driven by Jereme D. Fenley, 35, of Shell Knob.
Both vehicles were totaled and towed from the accident site by Double Eagle Towing.
Bell’s vehicle was insured with Progressive.
Fenley’s vehicle was uninsured.
Neither driver was wearing a safety device.
Fenley and a 14-year-old male passenger from Aurora were transported by air ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Springfield with serious injuries.
Bell was pronounced dead at the scene by Barry County Coroner, Gary Swearingen. Her body was taken to Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.
The accident was investigated by Missouri State Highway Patrol Corporal J. Long. It marked Troop D’s 4th fatality accident for October and the 95th for 2020.
