Alleged DWI results in three-vehicle crash

A Shell Knob is accused of DWI after a three-vehicle crash south of Aurora on Sunday, May 19, that resulted in the driver being airlifted. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, Shaun A. Flygare, 36, of Shell Knob, was driving a truck that crossed the center line and hit two other vehicles around 2:20 p.m.
Flygare was driving a 1998 Chevrolet Silverado headed northbound on Highway 39 about five miles south of Aurora. The truck crossed the center line and hit two other vehicles headed southbound, a 2019 Toyota 4Runner, driven by Sherry M. Deetz, 58, of Broken Arrow, Okla., and a 2012 Ford F150, driven by Cody R. Williams, 34, of Republic.
Flygare suffered serious injuries and was taken to Cox South Hospital in Springfield by Mercy helicopter. No other injuries were reported in the crash.
An arrest report by the Missouri State Highway Patrol accuses Flygare of felon yDWI with physical injury, misdemeanor careless and imprudent driving involving a crash and no seatbelt. No charges have been filed as of time of press.
Flygare was not wearing a seat belt, but the other drivers were. The Silverado and F150 were totaled and the 4Runner had moderate damage. All three were towed from the scene by Double Eagle Towing, of Marionville.
