Missouri Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft visited the Mt. Vernon and Monett branches of the Barry-Lawrence Regional Library (BLRL) on Veteran’s Day to meet with staff, present grant checks and tour facilities.
Ashcroft formally presented a $25,066 grant check at the Mount Vernon Branch, used to implement a hot-spot lending program.
In Monett, Ashcroft formally presented a grant check for $58,474. The grant was awarded for early literacy stations and computers for the public and staff. According to library director Gina Milburn, the actual funds were received last fall and the items purchased are currently in use.
