Barry County resident accused of sexual abuse

According to a probable cause statement signed by Deputy Thaddaeus Harris of the Barry County Sheriff’s Department, a warrant was issued for the arrest of 53-year-old Thomas Eugene Campbell, of rural Purdy. He was booked into the Barry County Jail at 11:26 p.m., May 29, 2020.
According to the statement, Campbell is charged with the 1st Degree sexual abuse of a female less than 14 years of age. The sheriff’s department also lists a charge of 1st Degree endangering the welfare of a child.
The activities which prompted the charges are alleged to have occurred on May 29 at the Big M Campground while the accused was heavily intoxicated.
According to the Barry County Sheriff’s Department, Campbell was released from jail June 1, 2020, after a $100,000 surety bond was posted.
