With the school year coming to a close, it is time once again for area schools to begin their summer school programs. Aside from traditional remedial and credit recovery programs, many schools in the county are offering fun, engaging programs to their students.
In Purdy, elementary students attending summer school will be treated to program called Summer Safari. This program will run from May 22 to June 19, daily from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Students going into kindergarten through sixth grade are welcome to attend. Students attending Summer Safari will be treated to regular visits from animals and wildlife experts from both Roaring River State Park and Dickerson Park Zoo in Springfield.
Students will also take a weekly trip to either the Cassville or Monett aquatic centers.
Summer Safari will end with an immersive STEM-based (Science Technology Engineering Mathematics) fun fair where students research and present their findings on an assigned animal in a “zoo-like” atmosphere.
