Barry Electric Co-op rate increase April 1

Barry Electric Co-op gave notice last week of a residential electric rate increase effective April 1. The not-for-profit electric cooperative has not seen a residential rate increase since 2018.
Cooperative expenses have increased by over 8% in the last year, and the new board-approved residential rate increase of 5.75% is outlined below:
Daily Service Charge- $1.30
Energy kWh Usage- $0.096302
On Peak Demand KW (M-F, 7-8 a.m., 2-6 p.m.)- $0.80
Off Peak Demand KW (remaining hours)- $0.20
Monthly Small Outdoor Light- $9.90
Monthly Large Outdoor Light- $15.78
