Barry Sheriff recovers $40K in stolen property

After an investigation by the Barry County Sheriff’s Department, three were arrested in connection with area thefts. The department recovered approximately $40,000 in stolen property, including two trailers, a diagnostic box, lawn mowers, equipment and various tools.
Amanda Shelby, James Kramer and Jason Kramer were all arrested as suspects of the crimes and have each been charged in connection with the crimes. According to the affidavit of probable cause, Shelby admitted that the items were stolen from both Lawrence and Barry Counties from vehicles and inside and outside residences. All owners of the property have not yet been identified.
Shelby and Jason currently face charges in both Barry and Lawrence Counties related to the various thefts. James faces charges in Barry County. The Barry and Lawrence County Sheriff’s Departments are working together to identify victims that the property was stolen from.
Shelby and Jason Kramer both face additional child endangerment charges because they took Shelby’s juvenile child to commit the crimes, and officers found mouse feces in the child’s bedroom on the dresser and clothes.
Amanda Shelby faces burglary in the 2nd degree, theft/stealing of $500 to $25,000, endangering the welfare of a child in the 1st degree, and tampering with a motor vehicle in Barry County. In Lawrence County, Shelby faces theft/stealing of any credit card and two counts of theft of a firearm.
Jason Kramer faces charges of burglary in the 2nd degree, theft/stealing of $500 to $25,000, endangering the welfare of a child in the 1st degree, and tampering with a motor vehicle in Barry County. In Lawrence County, he faces theft/stealing of any credit care and two counts of theft/stealing of a firearm.
James Kramer is charged in Barry County with receiving stolen property. James was released on a $20,000 bond on Tuesday, November 4.
Shelby and Jason are still being held in the Barry County Jail in lieu of $90,000 bonds each.
