6th Grade Cassville Students go to virtual learning
September 16, 2020

Cassville Schools Superintendent, Dr. Richard Asbill, announced today that all 6th graders in the school district will transition to virtual learning - Engagement Level 3 - beginning Thursday, September 17, and continuing through Monday, September 28. If all goes as hoped, students will return to classes on Tuesday, September 29. These dates will be subject to change, based on school district and health department evaluations.
According to Asbill, another positive case of COVID-19 has been reported, which, in turn, led to the quarantining of 106 students. This number is in addition to the 106 students quarantined due to a positive case yesterday.
Today's quarantined students include six additional Sixth graders, 53 Seventh graders and 47 Eighth graders. The middle school now has 200 students and two staff members in quarantine. Tuesday's newly quarantined students included 11 from the high school.
Seventh and Eighth grade students should continue attending classes in-person.
Dr. Asbill asks that you keep Middle School staff, students and families in your thoughts and prayers.
"This move to virtual leaning will require all of our efforts to be supportive, considerate and engaging," he said.
"Let's stay focused on the protocols and our plans. Take one moment at a time and work together."
The following information is posted on the Cassville R-IV district's website:
After receiving information regarding a positive COVID-19 test at Cassville Middle School, Cassville R-IV School District, in conjunction with the Barry County Health Department, reports the following changes:
If your child has been identified as a close contact to the person that has tested positive, you will be contacted directly. If the health department does not contact you directly, it has been determined you or your child were not directly exposed to a known positive case.
A close contact is identified as an individual that has been within 6 feet for 15 cumulative minutes or longer within 2 days to a person with a positive case. Close contacts will be quarantined by the Barry County Health Department.
The health and safety of our Wildcat family and community members will remain our primary priority. The district will continue to work in partnership with the Barry County Health Department as we strive to follow the best protocols during this pandemic.
