Cassville Area Chamber holds annual banquet, honors community members

Cassville Area Chamber of Commerce members gathered for the annual banquet Saturday at The Barn at Bear Ridge.

The Cassville Area Chamber of Commerce held its annual banquet last Saturday at The Barn at Bear Ridge in Cassville.
Dinner was provided by Red Rock Barbeque, in-house catering for the venue, with an invocation given by Stan Kelly. Music was provided by 221 Band (Jason Blankenship and Ryan Preddy) throughout the evening.
Chamber President Gerry Mann emceed the evening's event with the assistance of Chamber Director Morgan Williams.
Joseph and Lainey Harvick, with Harvick Farms, were presented with the Chamber's Beautification Award for restoring the old "For the Birds" nursery on Highway 112. The Harvicks not only fixed the nursery, but they have also created an orchard and offer a wide range of classes free to the public on gardening, art, cooking, beekeeping, and nature studies.
Dr. Chad Johnson received the Volunteer of the Year Award. Dr. Johnson has volunteered on various committees for events such as the Cassville Rodeo and the Chili Cook-off. He has served on the Chamber board and is currently the President of the Cassville Community Foundation and the Cassville Industrial Development Corporation. He is the past President of the Cassville Rotary and continues to serve on its board, and he is a member of the Cassville School Board and the Barry County Fair Board.
Dr. David Cupps was honored with the Cassville Area Chamber of Commerce Lifetime Achievement Award for his vision, commitment, and dedication to Cassville and surrounding communities. Dr. Cupps has been a Rotarian since 1980. He has served as President and is currently serving as Treasurer. He has also served on the board for the Cassville Golf Course. He is now the President of the Barry Electric Cooperative Board, in which he has been involved since 1992. In 1997, he was elected to serve on the KAMO board of trustees and continues to serve on the board. He is the visionary who worked diligently to bring high-speed fiber optic cable to cooperative members, and in 2015, the goBEC Fiber Network was born. He is a founding investor for Freedom Bank and has been on the board of directors since 2018.
A silent auction was held and table centerpieces were raffled off at night's end.
2023 officers are President Gerry Mann, Vice President Jennifer McBroom, and Treasurer Rhonda Stanford. Board of Directors are Kasey Hall, Lainey Harvick, Merlyn Johnson, Adriana Keeton, Bonnie Resz, Sharon Sanders, Tori Smith, Hilary Thomas, and Fallon Wahlert. Kristin Houston, Chad Johnson, Jill LeCompte, and Jeremy Marple are returning directors.
