Cassville boys and girls place second at
Monett Invitational

Both the Monett boys and girls thinclads emerged victorious at the Monett Invitational on Tuesday, April 27. The Ladycubs scored 151, outdistancing Cassville’s second place total of 135. The Cubs took the boys division with 137, and Cassville was second with 111. Twelve different teams scored in each division.
Besides the Big 8 showdown, a number of small school athletes popped into the limelight as the track season rolls into its final month. Southwest’s Travis Sickles ran a 4:33.9 PR to win the 1600m run, and Wheaton’s Chad Meyer won the 200m dash in 23.22 and the javelin with a throw of 43.84 meters.

Southwest hosted a rare home track meet on Monday, April 26, a quad meet with Galena, Jasper, and Purdy. Southwest easily won the boys division with 196 points, but Galena squeezed out a 114 to 104 victory in the girls division over the Lady Trojans.
