In its May 10 meeting, Cassville City Council approved entering into a contract with local marketing firm, Element 79 Media, to procure its services for the economic development of Cassville. The contracted annual price tag for the partnership is $52,000, with $26,000 due for the remainder of 2021.
“We already had $15,000 set aside (for promotional purposes),” Cassville City Administrator Steve Walensky told council, “and we can pull the additional sum out of our reserves.”
Element 79 Media General Manager, Rachael Selby Freeman, says her company’s long-term goal will be to draw people up the hill from Roaring River into Cassville, and thus promote Cassville as a destination of its own, through the use of digital and print media, the research of grant opportunities, and through partnerships with other area businesses.
The promotion of Trout Fest as an annual Cassville event - scheduled this year for September 18 - is a pending priority.
Council approved extending electricity into South Park, as well as a bid for submitted by Hale Fireworks for a fireworks display the night before the festival.
A decision regarding joining the National Flood Insurance Program remains pending.
“We are trying to coordinate with FEMA representatives, so we can schedule some type of open house/question and answer sessions for the community,” Public Works Director David Brock said. “So far, FEMA has not given us a date when someone will be available to come to Cassville.”
