According to a recent announcement, the Cassville Community Foundation (CCF) received a $1,000 grant during the annual Affiliate Appreciation Conference for the Community Foundation of the Ozarks (CFO).
Ten $1,000 grant recipients were selected by CFO from its 51-member affiliate network at a Nov. 12 virtual conference. The recipients were drawn from affiliates that had completed annual activities and provided conference inspiration.
The Cassville Community Foundation had a number of accomplishments during the CFO’s 2020 fiscal year, including the hosting of the Cassville Trail Run at Roaring River State Park.
The foundation also awarded more than $5,700 in grants to six local agencies, and worked with Cassville R-IV School District to establish the JD Riddle Educational Trust Fund to provide scholarships to students graduating from Cassville High School.
According to foundation secretary and coordinator, Rachael Selby, the Cassville Community Foundation oversees 21 different endowment funds used to enhance the quality of life for current and future generations in Cassville and the surrounding area.
“One of our largest is the Cassville Education Fund,” Selby said.
Many of the endowments are scholarship-related, Selby said, such as the Russ Melton Scholarship. Other endowments are used for the community at large.
“Some funds,” Selby said, “are being used this year to replace 60 of the snowflake Christmas lights in Cassville.”
The installation of Cassville’s original snowflake lights in 1993 were the result of the community-minded efforts of former Chamber of Commerce member, Michael LeCompte, and current member, Jon Horner.
“This is the first time the lights have been replaced,” Selby said.
The CCF board of directors includes: Chad Johnson, president; Angela Seymour, vice president; Rachael Selby, secretary and foundation coordinator; Dr. Richard Asbill; Skyler Beebe Bowman; Whitney Craig; Devon Forsythe; Laura Holycross; Kelly Mills; and Tracey Stoufer.
Founded in 2004, the CCF now holds assets of $1,456,985.48 as of June 30, 2020.
