Cassville Cruisers celebrate ten years
December 25, 2019

The Cassville Cruisers car club will celebrate their tenth year in the spring of 2020. The original group of car enthusiasts led by the late Bill Hill started meeting at Laminated Panels in the fall of 2009. The group’s mission was to bring cars to Cassville for both increased business and the simple enjoyment of viewing classic and specialty cars.
The early cruise ins were held at the old True Value parking lot and later moved to the Barry County Museum where they are held currently from April to November. The club has grown from the original 10 to over 100 members from the local area and northwest Arkansas. These members bring a wide selection of cars, trucks and other vehicles from vintage to late model.
The club schedules cruises regularly and has traveled all over the four-state region living up to our motto of “driving a little and eating a lot.” In addition to the cruises and cruise ins, the club has visited nursing homes, provided car washes for widows, visited the veteran’s home in Mt. Vernon, participated in parades, and attended many car shows.
The club also awards yearly scholarships to automotive students attending Scott Regional Vo-Tech in Monett. The club has held a toy drive every year at our Christmas party and donated funds to local charities.
We are looking forward to 2020 as we move into our tenth year with excitement. We have several events scheduled at our cruise ins and meetings. We have a new slate of officers eager to lead. Our cruise ins will begin again in April with a chance to take a swing at a car with a sledge hammer. In June, we hope to have a live band perform. July will bring out free watermelon for everyone and in October we will have Trunk or Treat. Every November we will honor veterans. Our monthly meetings are held the Tuesday before the second Saturday of each month at 7 p.m. in the Sho-Me Plaza. We have several fun events scheduled for the year to include pinewood derby, valve cover racing, ice cream social, cookouts with hamburgers and hot dogs and games. We would also like to thank Freedom Bank, Security Bank, The Barry County Museum and Tomblin’s Jewelry for their support over the years. We are excited about starting our tenth year and invite all car enthusiasts to our first meeting on January 7, 2020.
