Each year, the Springfield Area Memorial Stair Climb awards the fire department team who has raised the most funds for the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) with a traveling trophy. Cassville Fire has been awarded the trophy in the past and are excited it is back home. Pictured above are Firefighter Kristin Schoester, Firefighter Mike Correia, Training Officer, Travis Littler, Springfield Area Memorial Stair Climb Event Coordinator Jim Ludden.
Saturday, September 17,  firefighters, and civilians from all over will be joining us in person and virtually to remember those lost on September 11, 2001.
We invite the entire community to join us at MSU Plaster Stadium for our Tenth Annual Springfield Area Memorial Stair Climb. The Memorial Stair Climb is a commemorative climb to honor the 343 members of the Fire Department of New York who died on September 11, 2001.
The tenth annual Springfield Area Memorial Stair Climb starts at 8:30 am at Missouri State University- Plaster Stadium on Saturday, September 17, 2022. Over 343 participants will climb the stairs of Plaster Stadium at Missouri State University multiple times for a total of 110 stories, representing the number of floors in the Twin Towers. As part of registration the participants are asked to raise other funds for the NFFF. Last year, registered climbers have raised over $40,000 for the National Fallen Firefighter Foundation. All registration fees and fundraising will be directed to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation to fund the programs provided by the NFFF to support the families of local fallen firefighters and the FDNY Counseling Services Unit. We invite you to join us; I promise you it is a very moving experience.
