Cassville High cheer squad honored by UCA at cheer camp

June 5, 2019

During the final weeks of May, Cassville High hosted its annual summer Universal Cheer Association Cheer Camp. UCA is a company that sends instructors to schools all over the country to help students better learn cheer at a competitive level. Two Cassville seniors were asked to try out for the UCA staff during the 2020 tryouts. Pictured above are Jillian Hang (far left) and Steven Collinwood (far right) with two members of the UCA staff.

Seven CHS cheerleaders earned the title of "All American" during the UCA training camp. All American tryouts consisted of a dance routine and cheer that the cheerleaders learned at camp. It also involved a jumping component as well as some stunt work. The distinction of All American allows students an opportunity to go to Philadelphia, Penn., for underclassmen and Disney in Florida for our seniors. While in Florida, students will participate in a Thanksgiving parade, as well as several other activities, with cheerleaders from other schools across the country. Pictured above, from left to right, the seven cheerleaders to recieve the honor: Andrew Prier, Yessnie Lepez, Lexi Yockey, Jillian Hang, Jillian LeCompte, Whitney Koenig and Steven Collinwood.
